AniManGaki, one of Malaysia’s biggest celebrations of all things anime, cosplay and gaming, returns for its 18th edition this 28 – 30 August! Featuring the theme “The Great Exploration of Lost Cities and Forgotten Relics”, visitors can expect to go on an adventure through a vast jungle of attractions.
Here’s some of the biggest highlights from this year’s event:
Meet Special Guests
AniManGaki 2026 will feature a star-studded lineup of prominent industry guests, including artists, voice actors, performers and more:
- Hidetaka Tenjin: An illustrator and designer who has worked on properties such as Macross, Hellsing, Super Robot Wars, and more. Visitors will be able to catch an exclusive workshop and stage panel from the renowned artist during the event weekend.
- Aya Hirano: Following her guest appearance from AniManGaki 2025, acclaimed singer and actress Aya Hirano will be returning for a live performance and stage panel! This year also marks Hirano’s 25th anniversary of her CD and voice acting debut.
- STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION: The performers behind iconic tracks from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Moriarty the Patriot, Beyond the Boundary and more will bring their explosive energy to the AniManGaki stage.
- KOTOKO: The powerful singer behind Shakugan no Shana’s opening theme song “being” and Needy Streamer Overload’s “INTERNET OVERDOSE” will make a guest appearance at AniManGaki, celebrating the 20th anniversary of her major debut.
- Jacob Takanashi: HoYoverse fans, you won’t want to miss this stage session! Best known as the voice behind Kinich from Genshin Impact, Takanashi is a prolific voice actor and singer who has brought various anime and game characters to life.
- mit Photography: mit is a conceptual cosplayer photographer based in Japan, dedicated to exploring the deeper meaning of cosplay. Visitors to AniManGaki will be able to explore a themed photography exhibition and learn from her artistic workshops.
- Michi Mochievee: VTuber, content creator, talented vocalist, and self-proclaimed professional yapper Michi Mochievee will be hosting a stage panel and meet-and-greet session during the event, giving Malaysian fans a taste of her infectious energy.
- James Day: A British-Malaysian voice actor who has appeared in Final Fantasy XIV, Wuthering Waves, Resident Evil Requiem, and many more. Get to know more about him during his AniManGaki stage sessions!
Non-Stop Content and Activities
Attendees will be spoilt for choice with a variety of fun activities running concurrently throughout the event:
- Artist Alley: Artists will bring their creativity to life with booths showcasing their amazing work, handmade crafts and even commission requests.
- Cosplay Alley: An alley dedicated to cosplayers, who typically set up booths to sell their work and merchandise, and even host meet-and-greet sessions with their fans.
- Exhibitor Booths: Explore a variety of commercial exhibitors, including products and services, educational institutions, official merchandise retailers and more.
- Carnival Games: Try your luck at winning rewards by playing mini carnival games!
- VTuber Showcase: For VTuber fans, the event’s annual VTuber showcase makes a comeback, highlighting virtual talents from Malaysia and beyond.
- Panels and Workshops: AniManGaki isn’t just about play – attendees can pick up new skills and get inspired by exciting talks. Plus, you even meet the event’s Special Guests in person – and perhaps even score an autograph!
- Food and Beverage Vendors: Treat yourself to a delicious variety of food and beverages, conveniently located within the event hall itself.
- Cosplay Competition: AniManGaki’s annual cosplay competition returns, with some of Malaysia’s best cosplayers coming together to show off their incredible costumes and performances.
- Community Booth: Anime and gaming communities will come together to share their passion and raise awareness for their hobbies through dedicated booths, exciting workshops, and engaging panel sessions.
- Live Concert: Happening on all three days from 7.30 pm onwards, visitors can look forward to rocking out with Aya Hirano (Friday, 28 August), STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION (Saturday, 29 August) and KOTOKO (Sunday, 30 August).
- Stage Performances: Sing, dance and vibe with it! A wide selection of local talents and exciting stage activities will keep the stage alive with non-stop entertainment from the moment the event opens.
- AniManGaki Idol: Let the showdown begin! Contestants will go head- to-head in a 1v1 singing challenge, showcasing their vocal talents in front of judges and a live audience, as they compete for the top spot.
