Cardfight!! Vanguard is a popular trading card game published by Bushiroad. Launched in March 2011, the game has grown into a global competitive phenomenon, featuring major international tournaments each year.
On 21 February 2026, Lowkingston from Ipoh made history by becoming the first Malaysian to win the prestigious Cardfight!! Vanguard Championship Deluxe, a tournament to decide the strongest fighter of 2025! At just 19 years old, his victory marked a historic milestone for the Malaysian Vanguard community.
Lowkingston’s journey began in 2023 after he met a player known as “Bee King,” a staff member at Hotcake Trading. Bee King introduced him to Cardfight!! Vanguard and later became his mentor and inspiration in the game. To prepare for the tournament, Lowkingston shared, “I trained with players at my locals and just tried to stay as calm and level-headed as possible during the event.”
Reflecting on his victory, Lowkingston shared, “Honestly, I didn’t expect to win. I just tried my best and feel blessed to achieve it.” He revealed that his toughest matchup was against Jun from Singapore, who was playing the Odium deck. In the final round, he battled GGB, the representative from Hong Kong, to secure the championship title.
Prior to his international success, Lowkingston placed Top 4 at the Cardfight!!! Vanguard WGP Season 4 Malaysia on 22 November 2025, held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. This achievement earned him the opportunity to compete on the global stage.
Looking ahead, Lowkingston aims to defend his world title next year. He also hopes to see more Malaysian players rise to the highest level of Vanguard competition. With dedication and passion, he believes more Malaysian players can achieve world-class success in Cardfight!! Vanguard.
