No Spoilers Walkthrough: How To Get The Best Ending For Tavern Talk

Step into the Wayfarer’s Inn, a cozy tavern nestled in the fantastical world of Asteria, where we serve up everything from potions of seething fury to concoctions of charm — and the occasional dose of wisdom. This is the world of Tavern Talk, a Dungeons & Dragons inspired visual novel developed by Gentle Troll Entertainment.

As a visual novel, Tavern Talk is a pretty straightforward gameplay experience. There aren’t many choices you can make that alter your course, but that only adds more weight to the choices you can make.

In this game, each major choice is linked to a quest. As the Innkeeper, you alone have the power to influence the outcome of each quest through the drinks you serve. Depending on how many “best” outcomes you achieve, you’ll slowly work your way towards one of the game’s three major endings:

  • Party Time: Finish the game with as many good quest outcomes as possible
  • The End: Finish the game with as many bad quest outcomes as possible
  • All’s Well That Ends Well: Finish the game with an even amount of good and bad quest outcomes

With that, we’re here to help you achieve the best ending in the game, or subsequently, the worst ending if you decide to take none of our advice. Pick your poison and best of luck, intrepid adventurers!

Act 1 Quests

  • As the first quest of the game, consider this a tutorial quest without much consequences no matter what you choose.
  • Serve Charisma Boost for the best possible outcome and earn the Diplomacy is Key Steam Achievement.
  • Serve Dexterity Boost for a minor success outcome and earn the Take Aim! Steam Achievement.
  • Serve Intelligence Boost for the best possible outcome and earn the Puppet Master Steam Achievement. This outcome also earns you an ally in the future.
  • Serve Defense Boost with Fire Resistance for a minor failure outcome and earn The Beast Steam Achievement. This outcome does not earn you an ally down the line.
  • Serve Dexterity Boost with Invisibility Infusion for the best possible outcome and earn the Shadow Steam Achievement.
  • Serve Strength Boost with Ice Shield Infusion for a minor success outcome and earn the Rogue Steam Achievement. This outcome negatively impacts another character’s story down the line.

    Act 2 Quests

    • Serve Intelligence Boost with Honey Flowers for the best possible outcome and earn the Gently Giant Steam Achievement. This outcome also earns you an ally in the future.
    • Serve Defense Boost with Fireproof Infusion for a major failure outcome and earn the Beauty & Sadness Steam Achievement. This outcome does not earn you an ally down the line, and has long-lasting consequences.

    A Scandal in Zoford – Melli’s First Quest

    • Serve Dexterity and Charisma Boost with Haste for the best possible outcome and earn the Case Closed Steam Achievement. This outcome also earns you an ally in the future, and results in the most satisfying story conclusion.
    • Serve Dexterity and Strength with Fire Resistance for a major failure outcome and earn the Cold Case Steam Achievement. This outcome does not earn you an ally down the line, and results in an unresolved and sadder story conclusion.

    The Lagoon of Tranquility – The Rogue & Fable’s Second Quest

    • Serve Charisma with Thunder Sage for the best possible outcome and earn A Lullaby Steam achievement. This also results in the most satisfying story outcome.
    • Serve Intelligence with Fae Crystals for minor success outcome and earn the Camoflodge Steam achievement. This outcome results in a somewhat unresolved story conclusion.

    Raiders of the Lost Archives – Eleithyia’s Second Quest

    • Serve Charisma and Defense with Inspiration for the best possible outcome and earn the Ever Blooming Steam achievement.
    • Serve Strength with Citrin for a minor success outcome and earn the Archiving Steam Achievement.

    Fatal Company – Caerlin’s Second Quest & Rhea’s First Quest

    • Serve Defense and Strength with Citrin for the best possible outcome and earn the Hero’s Tale Steam Achievement. This outcome also earns you an ally in the future.
    • Serve Charisma and Dexterity for a major failure outcome and earn the Distract and Run! Steam Achievement. This outcome does not earn you an ally down the line.

    Act 3 Quests

    The Vegan Dead – Caerlin’s Third Quest & Skully’s First Quest

    • Serve Charisma and Defense with Frost Armor for the best possible outcome and earn the Unionize! Steam Achievement. This outcome kind of earns you an ally in the future. You’ll see.
    • Serve Dexterity and Defense with Lotus Flower for a minor failure outcome and earn the Burn Out Steam Achievement. This outcome does not earn you a (kind of) ally down the line.

    Mission: Magically Impossible – Hex, Iniko & Voy’s First Quest

    • Serve Intelligence and Dexterity for the best possible outcome and earn the From Rags to Riches Steam Achievement.
    • Serve Strength and Fire Resistance for a major failure outcome and earn the Boom! Steam Achievement.

    The Parent Trap – Jade’s First Quest

    • Serve Charisma and Dexterity with Honey Flowers for the best possible outcome and earn the Katallage Steam achievement. This outcome also earns you an ally in the future, and results in the most satisfying story conclusion.
    • Serve Strength and Defense with Frost Armor for a minor failure outcome and earn the Katharsis Steam Achievement. This outcome results in a somewhat unresolved story conclusion.

    Heir of Dragon Fire – Rhea’s First Quest with Caerlin, Hex & Baya

    • Serve Intelligence and Charisma with Invisibility for a minor failure outcome and earn the Guivre Steam Achievement. While the story outcome for this is more interesting, both choices result in a failure outcome ’cause the overarching plot said so.
    • Serve Strength and Dexterity with Fire Resistance for a major failure outcome and earn the Lights Out Steam Achievement.

    The Twilight Chase – Eleithyia’s Third Quest with Clay, Jade & The Rogue

    • Unfortunately, this is just one of those classic lose-lose situations.
    • Serve Dexterity and Defense for a major failure outcome and earn the Last Dawn Steam Achievement.
    • Serve Defense and Dexterity for a major failure outcome and earn the First Star Steam Achievement.

    The Dead Parade – The Rogue’s Final Quest

    • Serve Charisma and Defense for the best possible outcome and earn the Joint Forces Steam Achievement. While the quests from here on out are more dependent on your previous choices, this does result in a smoother outcome.
    • Serve Dexterity and Intelligence for a minor success outcome and earn the Army of Friendship Steam Achievement. You achieve the same story outcome, but the road getting there is bumpier.

    Fight of Hopes and Dreams – Fable’s Final Quest

    • This is the final quest of the game, so it’s more of a sentimental choice than anything.
    • Serve your favourite Dexterity or Charisma drink to your favourite customer, then sit back, relax, and find out the result of all the choices you’ve made leading up to this final moment.
