Singapore-based events organiser Sozo has announced that its flagship Anime Festival Asia (AFA) convention will make a comeback in Thailand, with a new edition scheduled at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok on May 30 and 31.
AFA last took place in Thailand in 2017 through a collaboration with C3 Japan Anime & Game Expo, marking the upcoming event as the brand’s first return to the country in nine years.
Sozo produces Anime Festival Asia annually in Singapore and has previously staged editions in Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Japan. The event is regarded as one of the largest anime and Japanese pop culture conventions held outside Japan, with the 2024 Singapore edition attracting approximately 130,000 visitors.
Beyond AFA and its I Love Anisong label, Sozo also operates JLive Asia, manages the Japan Music Festival brand, and produces concerts for individual Japanese artists. The company was acquired by Kadokawa in December 2025.
Most recently, Anime Festival Asia Singapore was held at Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre from November 28 to 30. The convention is also set to return to Hong Kong, with a new event planned at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on February 14 and 15, 2026.
