Strategy game publisher SlitherineGames has recently announced turn-based title Bolt Action. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because the game is an adaptation of the World War II miniatures game from Warlord Games, which is currently in its third edition.
According to the game’s Steam page, the Bolt Action video game “adapts the award-winning Warlord Games tabletop ruleset” and will feature “core mechanics like Morale, Line of Sight, and Pinning” to “deliver a faithful yet expanded digital experience”. The featured factions are the US, Britain, and Germany, and there will be an Army Painter to provide your forces with some customised aesthetics.
The setting is France, the familiar favorite of World War II games (the tabletop game has a few starter sets themed around the Normandy campaign). There will be singleplayer and multiplayer modes, with the former having some extra elements to make things a little less straightforward. The campaign will provide “connected missions with evolving objectives,” while skirmishes have “randomized initiative and varied conditions.”
There’s currently no release date for Bolt Action. Frag Games is listed as the developer.
