Fans of high-octane action and supernatural flair have a reason to celebrate. Netflix officially announced during The Game Awards that the second season of the animated Devil May Cry series is set to debut on May 12, 2026.
The announcement comes on the heels of a massive debut for the franchise’s first season, which premiered on April 3rd. Within just three days, the show clawed its way to #4 on Netflix’s global top 10 list, racking up 5.3 million views and trending in 87 countries.
This continuation isn’t a surprise to the production team; staff members have been planning a multi-season arc since 2021. The series, produced by Studio Mir, brings the stylish world of CAPCOM’s iconic video game franchise to life with a unique aesthetic.

The project is spearheaded by Adi Shankar, who acquired the rights back in 2018. Shankar has famously integrated the show into what he calls the “bootleg multiverse,” joining the ranks of his other hit, Castlevania.
The series boasts a powerhouse voice cast across both English and Japanese dubs:
| Character | English Dub | Japanese Dub |
| Dante | Johnny Yong Bosch | Toshiyuki Morikawa |
| Lady/Mary | Scout Taylor-Compton | Fumiko Orikasa |
| Vergil | (TBA) | Hiroaki Hirata |
The English version also features Hoon Lee as White Rabbit and Chris Coppola as Enzo. Notably, the first season included a posthumous performance by the late Kevin Conroy as VP Baines.

Staying true to the “cool factor” of the games, the series features a high-energy soundtrack. The opening sequence is set to Limp Bizkit’s “Rollin’,” while an alternate version of Evanescence’s new track “Afterlife” provides the atmospheric backdrop for the series’ darker moments.
While this Netflix iteration is the newest way to experience the story of Dante and Vergil, the franchise has a long history:
- 2007: A 12-episode anime by Madhouse.
- 2019: The release of the critically acclaimed Devil May Cry 5 game.
- Multimedia: The series has expanded into novels, manga, and even a stage play crossover with Sengoku Basara.
With the scripts for the initial rollout completed years ago by Adi Shankar and Alex Larsen, fans can expect a cohesive and thrilling continuation when Season 2 drops next spring.
