Valve Announces Three New Steam Hardware Devices, Launching 2026

It’s been nearly ten years since the launch of the Steam Deck, and Valve is finally expanding their Steam Hardware line with three new products. The line-up includes the Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and Steam Frame, all set to launch in early 2026.

“We’ve been super happy with the success of Steam Deck, and PC gamers have continued asking for even more ways to play all the great titles in their Steam libraries,” shared Valve’s Gabe Newell. “Our work over the years on other hardware and even more importantly on SteamOS has enabled Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and Steam Frame to do just that.”

The Steam Controller is fully compatible with any device running Steam, which includes your PC, Steam Deck, Steam Machine, and even the Steam Frame. It features next-generation magnetic thumbsticks, motors for immersive haptics, and Grip Sense, an input which allows for gyro aiming. It is also fully customisable with inputs that can suit any game, with players being able to download and even make different Steam Controller inputs.

For players that need more horsepower, the Steam Machine is essentially a powerful gaming PC packed into a 6-inch cube, boasting 4K gaming at 60 FPS with FSR, and your choice of 512GB or 2TB storage, with the option to expand via microSD. Players are also encouraged to customise their Steam Machine with a decorative plate that can be easily swapped out for different designs, as well as an LED strip that can be configured with different colours and animations.

Finally, the Steam Frame is a VR headset that’s fully compatible with all Steam games, both VR and non-VR titles alike. It promises a lightweight and compact frame with easy setup, without any additional wires or configuration involved. Valve also plans to create a Steam Frame Developer Kit program that allows game developers to request for a Steam Frame, in order to provide a better gaming experience for VR players.

The Steam Controller, Steam Machine and Steam Frame can now be wishlisted on Steam, with the devices scheduled to ship in early 2026. More information can be found on the official Steam Hardware page.
