Two days ago, Team Cherry Games announced that they would be making a special announcement about Hollow Knight: Silksong, the sequel to their award-winning action-platformer Hollow Knight after seven years in development.
Tonight, over 1.7 million Hollow Knight fans around the world watched with bated breath for five whole minutes. Three minutes of waiting for the announcement to begin, and another glorious two minutes of Hollow Knight: Silksong’s reveal trailer and launch date.
It’s official — Hollow Knight: Silksong will be launching on September 4th, 2025 on all PC and console platforms, including Day One on Xbox Game Pass.
Minutes after the announcement, gamers proved once again why calling Hollow Knight: Silksong “highly anticipated” would be the understatement of the century.
With the time ticking down to the sequel, the number of concurrent players for the first game saw a sharp spike on Steam, reaching an all-time peak of 23,801 concurrent players. This beats its former record of 20,324 concurrent players from 3.3 years ago.
This also adds onto the sequel’s already impressive achievement of being the #1 most wishlisted game on Steam, followed closely by Subnautica 2 which is slated to release in 2026. Now the real question is: will you be joining the other 23,000 players soon?
