Warner Brothers Japan revealed in a new teaser trailer that the Gintama anime will receive a new compilation film titled Gintama New Film Version: Yoshiwara in Flames in 2026.
The movie will adapt the Yoshiwara in Flames arc of the series, which covers episodes 139 to 146 of the anime. There will also be newly animated scenes and characters who didn’t appear in the original iteration of the arc.
The compilation movie is part of the Gintama franchise’s 20th anniversary celebrations, as 2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the original manga debut by Hideaki Sorachi, while 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of the popular anime adaptation’s premiere.
At the same event, the staff for the series announced the October 6th premiere date for the anime adaptation of Tomohito Osaki’s spinoff novel series, GINTAMA – Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class.
