New ‘Black Clover’ Anime Announced, Four Years After Original Series’ Conclusion

A new Black Clover anime series was announced during Crunchyroll’s industry panel at Anime Expo 2025, where the company showcased a new teaser visual and trailer. A release date, cast, staff, and additional streaming platforms were not revealed during the event.

The announcement comes four years after the end of the original Black Clover anime series, which aired from October 2017 to March 2021. An anime movie, Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King was released in Japan in March 2023.

The series is based on a manga by Yuki Tabata, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2015, before being moved to Jump Giga in December 2023. It follows a young boy, Asta, who is the only person without magic in a world where magic is everything. At the age of fifteen, Asta receives a grimoire of Anti-Magic that negates and repels his opponent’s spells, and sets out to achieve his dream of becoming the Wizard King.

Tabata also shared a statement with Crunchyroll, writing: “The production of the long-awaited new anime season of Black Clover has been confirmed! I’m beyond ecstatic going into the new anime season after the super-passionate movie that came out! Thanks to all of you, Black Clover is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year! I definitely plan to keep this hype going!”

“I want fans from Japan and all around the world to enjoy the powered-up anime that’s going to be brought to you by the most awesome anime production staff! Thank you so much for supporting Black Clover!”
