TV network and streaming service Max (formerly known as HBO) has announced that The Last Of Us, its popular TV adaptation of the videogame series of the same name, will be coming back for a third season.
The announcement comes ahead of the series’ second season, which begins airing on April 14. The Last Of Us Season 2 is expected to run for seven episodes, with a new episode being released weekly, and concluding with a season finale on May 25th.
Plot details for season 3 are, obviously, still being kept under wraps, but we do have a few clues. The series’ executive producer, and the games’ original creator, Neil Druckmann, previously told The Hollywood Reporter that the series will only adapt the existing games, with no plans to add new material. With that in mind, fans of the games can expect to see the events of The Last Of Us II play out across two seasons, instead of just one.
The Last Of Us stars Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal as series protagonists Ellie and Joel, respectively, with Kaitlyn Denver, Young Mazino, Tati Gabrielle and Catherine O’Hara joining for Season 2.
