Amazon MGM held its first CinemaCon presentation on April 2, opening with Amazon MGM/Prime Video head Mike Hopkins boldly announcing that: “We are working to deliver 15 big, bold, cinematic films annually into your theaters by 2027 – and we’re ahead of schedule with 14 titles already lined up for 2026.”
Here’s some of the highlights they had in store:
1. Project Hail Mary

Ryan Gosling opened the presentation with a trailer for his upcoming film Project Hail Mary, where he plays Ryland Grace, a schoolteacher who wakes up on a spaceship with no memory of how he got there. As it turns out, he is the last survivor of a mission sent to save Earth from an astronomical disaster – and he soon runs into an alien who is also trying to save his species from the same fate.
The film comes with an impressive pedigree, being directed by The Lego Movie and Spider-Verse duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and being adapted from a novel of the same name by Andy Weir, author of The Martian. It will arrive in theatres on March 20, 2026.
2. After The Hunt

Fresh off the success of Challengers, director Luca Guadagnino appeared to showcase his next film, a psychological drama titled After The Hunt, opening October 10. The film will star a college professor (Julia Roberts) who is forced to confront her dark past when one of her students (Ayo Edebiri) levels a serious accusation against one of her colleagues (Andrew Garfield).
3. Mercy

Chris Pratt presented Mercy, a new sci-fi thriller where he plays a detective who helped to create an AI law enforcement system named Mercy. One day, Mercy accuses him of murdering his wife, giving Pratt’s character only 90 minutes to use his detective skills to clear his name or risk being executed by the AI.
4. Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie

Hugh Jackman and Emma Thompson appeared via video to promote their next film, Three Bags Full, which stars Jackman as a shepherd who reads murder mysteries to his sheep. When he is found dead under mysterious circumstances, his sheep decide to take it upon themselves to solve the crime. The film arrives in theatres February 20.
5. Masters of the Universe

Director Travis Knight, alongside stars Nicholas Galitizine and Camila Mendes, showed off set photos and concept art for their upcoming live-action He-Man movie. The film will star Galitizine as He-Man and Mendes as Teela, alongside Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Jared Leto as Skeletor, and Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn.
Not much is known about the plot of the movie, but visitors did get a first look at the characters’ costumes, which DiscussingFilm describes as ‘incredibly 80s’, but also ‘without it looking too ridiculous or uncanny in live-action’.
6. James Bond

The presentation took a page out of the Switch 2 Direct’s book by ending on a teaser for a new James Bond film, which has begun filming in London. Amy Pascal and David Heyman are set to produce.
Other projects announced included a remake of the 1968 film The Thomas Crown Affair, helmed by Michael B. Jordan; Verity, a new Colleen Hoover novel adaptation starring Dakota Johnson; and Crime 101, a new heist thriller starring Halle Berry and Chris Hemsworth.
CinemaCon ends tomorrow with presentations from Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney Studios, so those of us in Asian timezones can expect to wake up to some bombshell announcements.
