TikTok Malaysia’s Head of Public Policy, Anuar Fariz Fadzil, has just been appointed as the new CEO of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
The news was announced by the MDEC Chairman YB Tuan Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh at the official launching of the Malaysia Digital Content Festival (MYDCF) earlier this morning. MYDCF is one of the most prominent digital content events in Southeast Asia, hosted annually by MDEC since 2019.
MYDCF Biz Day is currently ongoing at Connexion Exhibition Convention Centre from 1st to 3rd October 2024 and consists of three business conferences: the video game conference LEVELUP KL, the animation conference Kre8tif!, and the immersive technology conference IMMERSE KL.
Anuar Fariz Fadzil was previously the Special Advisor to Chief Executive Officer at Celcom Axiata Berhad and Head of Regional Government Stakeholder Management at Axiata. He took a career break during the Covid-19 pandemic to pursue a Masters in International Public Policy at the Johns Hopkins University. He joined TikTok Malaysia as their Head of Public Policy earlier this February.
The appointment follows the completion of Datuk Ts. Mahadhir Aziz’s three-year tenure as MDEC’s CEO on 31 August 2024. The role has remained vacant for one month before the appointment of Anuar Fariz.
