A limited-time open beta test for Monster Hunter Wilds has been announced today, allowing players to experience the game ahead of its official launch. The announcement dropped together with the release of a new Monster Hunter Wilds promotional video, showcasing new monsters, fields, and inhabitants.
Players can participate in the open beta test on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam from 1st November, 11AM (GMT+8) to 4th November, 10:59AM (GMT+8). Even those who aren’t subscribed to PlayStation Plus on PlayStation 5 or Game Pass Core/Ultimate on Xbox Series X|S can participate in the open beta test.
Additionally, there will be an exclusive early access period for PlayStation 5 owners who are subscribed to PlayStation Plus from 29th October, 11AM (GMT+8) to 31st October, 10:59AM (GMT+8).
The Monster Hunter Wilds open beta test includes character creation, a Story Experience Quest, and the Doshaguma Hunt Quest. The story trial was recently showcased at gamescom asia 2024 for the first time at a Southeast Asian event.
In the character creation beta period, you can create and redo your characters as many times as you like. Additionally, character creation information from the Open Beta Test will carry over directly to the final version.
In the Story Experience Quest, you can play through the beginning of the story, including cutscenes and a basic tutorial, leading up to the hunt for Chatacabra. In the Doshaguma Hunt Quest, you will aim to defeat the Alpha Doshaguma that leads the pack. However, progress in the game will not carry over to the final version.
In both quests, you can enjoy multiplayer gameplay by sending out an SOS Flare to connect with online players. The open beta test is an online-only experience and cannot be played offline. It will be possible to register friends across different platforms, although friend registration information will not carry forward to the final version. If there aren’t enough players gathered, up to three NPC support hunters will join you to assist in the hunt.
Players who participate in the open beta test will receive a ‘Palico Teddy Pendant’ and an Item Pack which can be used to decorate weapons and equipment in the final version. These rewards will be available as downloadable content after the release date.
Monster Hunter Wilds is set for a simultaneous global release on 28th February 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
