Tourism Malaysia In Talks With Jujutsu Kaisen Publisher To Build Nanami Memorial

Last year, Nanami Kento said he wanted to go to Kuantan in an episode of Jujutsu Kaisen. This year, Tourism Malaysia is actually trying to make it happen.

Tourism Malaysia recently confirmed that they are in talks with the publisher of Jujutsu Kaisen regarding plans to build a memorial for the popular anime character. However, approval may take longer than expected.

“Tourism Malaysia representatives met the anime publisher in January to convey the Pahang government’s interest, hoping to obtain the creator’s consent to help promote tourism here. We have provided all the supporting documents,” said State Unity, Tourism, and Culture Committee chairman Leong Yu Man.

“All communications related to securing the approval are done through an intermediary as the creator seldom appears in the public and does not want to be under the spotlight. It might take some time to complete the required procedures especially, involving copyright,” she shared at the Malaysia International Tourism (MIT) Expo 2024 press conference.

When the episode first aired last year, the Pahang state government expressed interest to build a memorial for Nanami in an effort to promote Kuantan and its beaches.
