Youtuber Kurzgesagt Announces New Video Game, Project Mango

You may know Kurzgesagt as that YouTube channel with over 22 million subscribers that makes animated videos about science and the world around us. What you didn’t know is Kurzgesagt is teaming up with Toukana Interactive to make a video game!

The space-themed video game, with the working title Project Mango, is arriving in 2025. The teaser trailer features the two iconic birds from Kurzgesagt and Toukana trying to solve a puzzle, all in that iconic Kurzgesagt animation style.

Toukana Interactive’s previous game, Dorfromantik is a zen building strategy and puzzle game where you create a beautiful and ever-growing village landscape by placing tiles. Released in 2022, the game was a student thesis project turned indie hit with overwhelmingly positive reviews and even a board game adaptation!

Based on a blurb from Toukana’s website, Project Mango is “inspired by the coziness and charm of Dorfromantik, spiced with the sharp-witted humor and scientific curiosity of kurzgesagt.”

This isn’t Kurzgesagt’s first video game project either. They previously released Out of Scale: A Kurzgesagt Adventure, a virtual reality gamified learning experience developed for the Meta Quest. In the game, you use a Shrink-o-gen to shrink down into various sizes and learn about molecules, bacteria, insects, humans, and mountains.
