Global Game Jam Malaysia Returns For Its 14th Year — Registration Open Now

Global Game Jam Malaysia is back — and it’s levelled up! From 26th to 28th January 2024, Malaysia will be joining the 48-hour game development marathon alongside the rest of the world for the 14th time.

Global Game Jam is the world’s largest game creation event, taking place simultaneously around the globe with tens of thousands of participants (or jammers!) in over one hundred countries around the world. Last year, Global Game Jam saw a massive participation rate of 40,000 people at 800 locations in 108 countries, who created a total of 7,600 games!

If you’re unfamiliar with the game jam format, participants gather on Friday evening to watch a short video keynote with advice from leading game developers, then a secret theme is announced. All jammers worldwide are then challenged to make games based on the same theme, with the games to be completed by Sunday.

Malaysia will be making its own mark with three separate game jam sites: Xsolla in Bangsar South, UPSI in Tanjung Malim, and UOW Malaysia in Glenmarie. For the first time ever, tabletop game designers are also welcome to jam alongside the rest!

How To Register

Registration is now open on the Google Form here. Participants will be required to register once on the Google Form, and once under Xsolla, UPSI or UOWM depending on which game jam site they plan to join.

For more information, follow the Global Game Jam Malaysia Facebook page or join their Discord server here.
