If you’re a huge fan of anything scary and horrifying, then we have great news for you! The Junji Ito Horror House is the perfect immersive experience for thrill seekers and avid fans of the world-famous Japanese Horror Manga Artist’s spine-chilling works!

It is located at LaLaport BBCC for a limited time only between the 28th of September 2023 until the 30th of November 2023 and will be open daily from 12pm to 10pm.

Being huge fans of horror and Junji Ito ourselves from the tales of Tomie, Uzumaki and even Gyo to the more recent Netflix adaptation known as Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, we just had to jump on the first opportunity we had to experience his work through a very unique exhibition.

After all, we were sure it was going to be a sight to behold as Junji Ito is known for his ability to create that eerie and unsettling atmosphere through the pages of his many stories. But beware, as this horror house is definitely not for the faint of heart!

Yes, this is no regular exhibition as it is split into a few portions featuring a Haunted House style experience between Hall A, the Ville of Vengeance and Hall B, the Ville of Evil where you will traverse the winding halls of the horror house with a total of 8 participants in a group.

Junji Ito fans will be excited to spot all the references to the show or manga series with scares that will surely leave you trembling in fear through the intricate and creative fusion of artworks, live actors and special effects.

At the end of the tunnel, visitors will be rewarded with a chance to enter Hall C where you can admire an exhibition of Junji Ito’s works such as storyboards for the Netflix Show along with interactive pieces and designated photo spots. There are also videos where Junji Ito himself speaks about the vision he has for his works along with its recent adaptation on Netflix.

Whether you grew up reading the unsettling horrors between the pages of Junji Ito’s mangas or you’re a more recent fan, this hall will definitely reignite that itching need to revisit all his works again with a deeper appreciation for Junji Ito’s works that have reached a global scale and has now touched down in Malaysia for our enjoyment.

Besides all the halls, you also get to enjoy sweet treats at the Junji Ito cafe to soothe your throat after all the screaming you probably did during your experience in the halls of the horror house – because I know I definitely did! Right before you leave, they also have a merchandise store that you just can’t miss with shelves of detailed, intricate merchandise depicting the captivating horrors of Junji Ito’s works.

Interested in challenging yourself this spooky season? Tickets for the Junji Ito Horror House are on sale now with prices ranging from RM39 to RM79! Visitors can purchase tickets for a single hall or double hall – but we definitely recommend going through both halls for the best experience.
