Netflix Reveals First Look at He-Man Reboot “Masters of the Universe: Revelation”

In a CG animated still from Masters of the Universe: Revelation, He-Man wears a silver chest plate with a red “H” in the center, a golden armored belt and golden wrist plates. He raises his silver sword atop Battle Cat, a green tiger with orange stripes and maroon armor on his hind legs. The two are in the center of a throne room.

Following the success of 2018’s She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Netflix is returning to the 80’s cartoon toy box once more with Masters of the Universe: Revelation, a reboot of the 1983 He-Man animated series.

Fans can expect a more mature take on the He-Man mythos helmed by Mattel Television and Kevin Smith of Clerks fame, brought to life by Powerhouse Animation (Castlevania) and an all-star cast featuring names such as Chris Wood (Prince Adam/He-Man), Mark Hamill (Skeletor), Lena Headey (Evil-Lyn), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Teela), Alicia Silverstone (Queen Marlena), and Kevin Conroy (Mer-Man).

The series’ official description reads:

The war for Eternia culminates in Masters of the Universe: Revelation, an innovative and action-packed animated series that picks up where the iconic characters left off decades ago. After a cataclysmic battle between He-Man and Skeletor, Eternia is fractured and the Guardians of Grayskull are scattered. And after decades of secrets tore them apart, it’s up to Teela to reunite the broken band of heroes, and solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to restore Eternia and prevent the end of the universe.

The first five episodes of Masters of the Universe: Revelation will debut on Netflix this July 23rd.
