Our Top 7 Most Anticipated Switch Titles For 2019

E3 had just ended and there is a question left hanging in most people’s minds: “How am I going to decide which game to purchase and play?” For most of us, we must be the responsible adults that we are and there is only so much time we can spend on games.

Fret not, here we have compiled a list of Nintendo Switch games that we are most excited about. Let’s start with a game that is already out there but has definitely leveled up with the Definitive Edition.

Dragon Quest XI Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition S

Boy, that sure is a mouthful. With a version that is coming to the Switch, you can relive the adventure on the go and to those that hasn’t given this a try, you have to get it now.

JRPGs in general are always a good candidate for a Switch release for the very reason that it allows you to stop the game midway and as long as the Switch is powered, you will always be able to pick up where you left off.

Of course, this isn’t just a port, it has new dungeons with new plot elements that hardcore fan must find out about and how it changes the plot. New players will be able to experience the complete Dragon Quest XI story, music and did I mention that you now have the ability to journey into the past Dragon Quest Worlds? This also allows you to alternate between HD and the retro 16-bit visuals of the old times.

Dragon Quest XI Echoes of an Elusive Age is coming this fall.

SaGa Collection

Continuing on with JRPG, both the former Japan-only titles, Romancing SaGa 3 and SaGa: Scarlet Grace Ambitions, will finally be localized in English for the first time ever.

Romancing SaGa 3 is a remaster of the old Super Famicom game from 1995 and Scarlet Grace being a re-release of the 2016 title, the western world is finally caught up with this franchise.

For the fans of the old school turn-based RPG, you must pick this up to complete your collection.

Onikani

A whole new IP this time. Developed by Square Enix, Onikani is a one of the few new IPs among the slew of remakes (not that we are complaining though).

Players will play as a watcher. The watcher’s role is to save lost souls in the land beyond the living from turning into monsters. With each soul that he save, they will aid him in his tasks, equipping him with special powers unique to that soul.

Each soul will also give you different weapons and different ways of playing the game. This new action-RPG is gorgeous, to say the least, and I highly recommend it as a pick up coming this Summer 2019.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

Fans have been asking for a new game in the Luigi’s Mansion series and Nintendo heard the call. A very much welcoming announcement, Luigi’s Mansion 3 will hit the Switch sometime in 2019 and this time you can have a party!

Quite literally, you can have a party of 8 players co-op in the ScareScrapper mode. Of course, there can only be one Luigi, the rest of you are Gooigi.

Gooigi is Luigi’s doppelganger that is made out of goo. This gives new mechanics to the game and allows a Player Two to control Gooigi with local co-op. Just make sure to avoid water!

Daemon X Machina

When they say that there will be a game for everyone, they aren’t kidding. Daemon X Machina is a mech-action game and I honestly can’t remember the last mech-action game released recently. The last one that I can remember is Armored Core and Daemon X Machina looks like it will be an improvement over Armored Core.

With extensive on the fly mech customization and really fast-paced action gameplay, Daemon x Machina looks like it will be an actual contender among the great games that are about to be released on the Switch.

Daemon X Machina will be released on 13th September this year.

Astral Chain

Platinum Games’ latest IP. Platinum Games is famous for its hack and slash game, most notably Nier: Automata released a few years back.

The mechanics of Astral Chain involves the player controlling two characters at the same time during combat. It is not your everyday hack and slash. One character is the playable protagonist and the other is a captured Chimera called a Legion.

The protagonist and the Legion have a mystical link that allows them to fight in tandem and with different Legions, it allows for multiple play styles. Of course, as it is played on a Switch, the second controller can be passed on to a 2nd player that controls the Legion.

Astral Chain will be released on 30th August this year.

Pokemon Sword & Shield

And the piece de resistance, one of Nintendo’s signature games, Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Of course everyone knew that this game is sure to be on this list. Pokemon Sword and Shield features an open world exploration and visible wild Pokemon roaming. A distinct difference from past games.

Unique to the Galar region, gym battles will also features Dynamax, a move that will replace Z-moves and mega-evolutions. This supersizes your pokemon for a few turns, dealing massive damage to the opponent.

Since Pokemon Sword and Shield are the first mainline Pokemon games to come to the Switch, we have high expectations for this installment. Pokemon Sword and Shield will be released on November 15 this year.

So that’s it. Our most anticipated games for the Switch. Multiple team members of our little team are excited for very different game types. I am mostly excited for Onikani and Astral Chain while the more traditional fans of our team are excited for Pokemon Sword and Shield along with Luigi’s Mansion. Everyone has something for them and at the risk of sounding like a broken record, it is truly a great time to get a Switch.

What will you be getting? Are they in our list? Comment below to let us know which games are you most excited about!
