Just a few days ago, Jim Carrey officially signed on the cast of the upcoming ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ movie as its main antagonist, Robotnik A.K.A. Doctor Eggman. This is the most astonishing news since we found out there was actually going to be a ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ feature film, and worse yet, that it was going to be a live action and animation hybrid! But what do we know? Stranger things have happened before.
Carrey joins James Marsden (of ‘Enchanted’ and ‘Westworld’ fame) on the cast, although it has yet to be announced which character the latter will be playing. Paul Rudd is a fan favourite to play the titular character but other cast members of the film have yet to be announced.
The movie is currently slated for theatrical release on 15th November 2019, two weeks before its biggest competitor, Disney’s ‘Frozen 2’. Hopefully its director Jeff Fowler will give them a run for their money (pun intended) as he’ll be working side by side with executive producer Tim Miller (director of ‘Deadpool’).
