Ash Echoes SEA, a new real-time strategy mobile gacha game developed by Aurogon Shanghai and published by Neocraft, recently concluded its closed beta test not too long ago, offering a tantalizing preview of its immersive world and strategic gameplay. This game offers a unique take on the real-time strategy genre that makes them different to others in the genre.
Set in the world of Senlo, the game starts with the Skyrift Incident, a tear in the sky that brings forth stories and endless possibilities to the world itself. Ash Echoes SEA invites players to assume the role of the Chief Officer of S.E.E.D., an advanced technology R&D company, to unravel the mysteries of the Skyrift Incident and unite with heroes from diverse worlds to confront the looming threats to the multiverse.
Gameplay
In terms of gameplay, Ash Echoes is a real-time strategy game with bits of Tower Defense ingrained within the system. It is not a standard Tower Defense game as enemies are not set on a predefined route towards your base. Since the game is not turn-based, everything is done in real time and players need to utilise their characters’ mechanics to enable them to defend their base.
During combat, the characters can not only auto attack on the enemies, but are also able to use their abilities and their ultimates to defeat them. The ultimates vary between characters and each ultimate animation sequence is really flashy and cool to watch. There are also elemental reactions between characters’ abilities that will enable them to do more damage on mobs of enemies.
There are also environmental advantages such as weather that players can use against the enemies to inflict more damage onto them. It also can affect the characters’ elemental reactions, which might include generating elemental zones, blowing enemies away, swallowing enemies on a quicksand trap, and many others. These gameplay mechanics and more can be used by players to enhance their experience.
The characters in Ash Echoes all have their own distinct qualities, with various differences that give them each their own appeal. Each character belongs to a different class, which are the Vanguard, Striker, Bulwark, Skirmisher, Ranger, Tactician and Support classes, that give each character their own unique abilities. More characters will also join the roster in future updates, which may not only include those from the world of Senlo, but also characters from other worlds as well.
Looking Ahead
From the period that we tried the Ash Echoes Closed Beta, we do believe that the game can make a strong start and be able to maintain its momentum for a long time. The game’s strong gameplay mechanics and characters will be able to push the game far. There were some quality of life mechanics that were missing, but since this was a Closed Beta some minor flaws were to be expected. It didn’t detract from the overall experience, which we hope will continue to improve and do well in its final release.
While the closed beta test has concluded, the excitement surrounding Ash Echoes SEA continues to build. As the game moves closer to its official release, we’re eagerly anticipating the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in this captivating multiverse. If you want to get in on the fun, then be sure to catch the game on its official launch on the 14th of November 2024!
