NieR: Automata Continues to Surprise

Following the announcement in early April that it had sold 1 million copies, Square Enix has revealed on NieR’s official Japanese Twitter account that NieR: Automata just recently bypassed the 1.5 million milestone in terms of overall sales.

While that number seems small in comparison to heavy hitters like Pokémon, which sells millions in mere days; such a figure is impressive for Automata which is still considered a niche game and hasn’t even been out for a quarter of a year yet. It certainly helps that the game was released on Steam as well for the PC, albeit in a rather shoddy state.

One can only hope that this unprecedented success will mean the continuation of this franchise in the future, for we here at The MAGIC Rain Games Panel truly believe NieR: Automata was one of the best games we’ve had in the past few years. You can read more about what we thought of the game here.
