Zenless Zone Zero Guide: Qingyi Best Builds & Team Compositions

Qingyi, the resident tea enthusiast and combat android from the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team, has finally arrived in Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.1! Say goodbye to your Anby’s and break open your Polychrome bank, because this Electric Stun character is only here from August 14th to September 4th, 2024.

If you’ve already had the fortune of pulling her, or maybe you’re still making up your mind, here’s a closer look at her character abilities, recommended builds, and team compositions before you pull the trigger.

Agent Information & Abilities

Rarity: S-Rank

Attribute: Electric

Specialty: Stun

Faction: Criminal Investigation Special Response Team

Core Stat: Impact

Basic Attack

Qingyi has one of the most straight-forward yet powerful Basic Attacks in the game right now. Simply launch up to four attacks forward to deal Physical and Electric DMG. During the 3rd hit, keep pressing Basic Attack to trigger a continuous attack with a large AOE.

When you stop pressing the Basic Attack, it will transition automatically to the 4th attack. The longer the 3rd hit combo lasts, the stronger the 4th attack will be.

As Qingyi deals Electric DMG, she accumulates Flash Connect Voltage. When Flash Connect Voltage reaches 75%, hold down Basic Attack to launch Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms, which are five consecutive forward rush attacks ending in a finishing strike that inflicts massive Electric DMG.

This attack consumes the accumulated Flash Connect Voltage. Releasing the Basic Attack during this move triggers the finishing strike early.

Special Attack

Qingyi’s EX Special Attack, Moonlit Begonia, allows her to quickly swing upward and leap into the air, followed by a downward smash which deals massive Electric DMG. Holding Special Attack consumes additional energy to increase the number of hits. After executing this move, you can immediately follow up with the Basic Attack 3rd hit.

Ultimate Attack

Qingyi’s Ultimate Attack, Eight Sounds of Ganzhou, launches a series of powerful strikes over a large area in front. This is followed by a finishing move that deals massive Electric DMG. The character is invulnerable when using this skill.

Core Passive

Qingyi’s Core Passive is all about stacking Subjugation, which increases the enemy’s Stun DMG multiplier by 1.5%. This is unlike the other S-Rank Stun Agents, namely Koleda and Lycaon whose Core Passives deal additional 30% and 40% Daze directly to their targets.

While this technically makes Qingyi’s Stun capability weaker compared to the other S-Ranks, she is constantly building up that multiplier as long as you keep her in battle. Combined with her large AOE, you’ll start to see the effects of that multiplier real soon.

And for the nerds in the room, here’s the breakdown:

When Qingyi lands a finishing move on an enemy with her Basic Attack, it applies 5 stacks of Subjugation to the enemy and stacks up to 20 times. For each rush attack performed during Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms, the finishing move will apply an extra stack of Subjugation.

If Perfect Dodge is triggered when using a finishing move, it directly applies 10 stacks of Subjugation. When applying Subjugation to normal or elite enemies, the enemy receives double the stacks. Subjugation resets when the enemy recovers from being Stunned.

Additional Ability

Qingyi’s Additional Ability is by far the most flexible in the game thus far. She only requires an Attack character or someone from the same Faction to activate her Additional Ability, while most other characters requires another character from the same Attribute or Faction.

Once her Additional Ability is activated, Basic Attacks deal 20% increased Daze. If her Impact stat is greater than 120, each point over increases her Attack by 6 up to a maximum of 600. This more than makes up for her weaker Stun capability compared to other S-Ranks.

Best W-Engines

We apologise in advance for your wallets, but Qingyi’s best W-Engine is her very own S-Rank Ice-Jade Teapot.

Each time Qingyi lands a Basic Attack, she gains a stack of Tea-riffic which increases her Impact stat by 0.7% for 8 seconds, stacking up to 30 times. If Qingyi already has 15 or more stacks of Tea-riffic, the DMG of all her squad members increases by 20% for 10 seconds.

Lycaon’s The Restrained and Koleda’s Hellfire Gears are good S-Rank alternatives that focus on building Daze and Impact respectively. Or your budget-friendly A-Rank options are Steam Oven, Precious Fossilized Core, and Six Shooter, which aren’t as good but are enough for a passing grade.

Best Drive Discs

If you want to build on Qingyi’s strengths, the best Drive Disc would 4pcs of Shockstar Disco to increase her overall Impact and Daze. Add on another 2pcs of Swing Jazz to boost her Energy Regen and get EX Special Attack sooner.

If you want to maximise Qingyi’s DPS capabilities, replace Swing Jazz with 2pcs of Thunder Metal so that you’re dealing additional Electric DMG.

Best Team Compositions

As mentioned earlier, Qingyi is an incredibly flexible teammate. She only requires an Attack character in her team to activate her Additional Ability, which gives you a variety of Stun/Support/Attack team compositions to choose from.

If you’re going the F2P route, Qingyi, Nicole, and Billy make a great starter team comp. If you have other S-Rank characters, it’s best to swap out for someone in the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team so you can get that sweet, sweet Faction buff.

The Big Question: Should I pull for Qingyi?

While most Specialties in this game are interchangeable for the most part, Stun characters definitely make the most impact (pun intended) the higher you climb. Not to mention, good Stun characters have been few and far in between, making Qingyi more valuable than most.

Her greatest value is her large AOE and seemingly endless cycle of Attribute DMG, which immediately sets her leagues apart from a single-target fighter like Lycaon or Anby. Especially since you’ll be fighting mobs most of the time, her ability to attack multiple enemies at once is hard to resist.

Unlike her other S-Rank Stun counterparts, Qingyi doesn’t come with any of their setbacks either. Her wider AOE outclasses Lycaon’s short attack range. She also doesn’t have Koleda’s hyperspecific attachment to Ben, only requiring an Attack unit to maximise her usefulness.

It’s wins all around, except maybe for your wallet. Happy pulling!
