Thanksgiving & Christmas Are Coming To Animal Crossing: New Horizons

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — extra wonderful because of two new holidays coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons! Turkey Day and Toy Day, the Thanksgiving and Christmas equivalents in the game, will be happening in November and December alongside other quality-of-life updates.

Turkey Day (26th Nov)

Beginning with Thanksgiving, make sure to visit your island on 26th November for a special visit from professional chef Franklin. Since turkey is off the table for some reason, you can contribute other ingredients (like pumpkins!) to be cooked into a feast for you and your villagers. There is also a chance to earn gifts by helping out.

Toy Day (24th Dec)

Unlike the one-day Thanksgiving event, the Christmas event will extend from 1st to 25th December, with Toy Day happening on 24th December. Throughout the event, players will be able to collect seasonal clothing, recipes and furniture to transform their entire island into a wintery wonderland.

On Christmas Eve, your island will also be visited by Jingle, the black-nosed reindeer, who will task you with delivering presents to all of your villagers. Players are likely to earn festive gifts on this day as well, so make sure to sign in!

Increased Storage & Save Data Transfers Available Now

With this update also comes two highly anticipated quality-of-life updates. Firstly, you can now upgrade your home storage from 1,600 to 2,400 max capacity for 500,000 Bells! However, this upgrade is only available to players who have paid off all their debts, so new players better get crackin’.

Secondly, players no longer have to worry about their game progress being wiped, as save data transfers are finally here! Through the free Island Transfer Tool app on the Nintendo eShop, players can now easily transfer their entire island to a new device. For more info about how this works, you can read more here.

Other Upcoming Events

Last but not least, players can expect more events and features to come after 25th December. Some of the reveals so far include New Years themed items from 26th to 31st December, new hairstyles and emotes by 31st December, as well as a brand new event coming late-January!

This Animal Crossing: New Horizons update is available from 19th November 2020 onward. Which event are you looking forward to the most? Comment your favourite below!
